On behalf of the Local Arrangements Committee and the Department of Entomology at the Ohio State University, I invite your participation in the 63rd annual meeting of the North Central Branch to be held in Columbus, Ohio, 24-27 March 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Columbus. Along with Branch President Rick Weinzierl, program Co-chairs Kelly Cook Estes and Celeste Welty have been hard at work assembling an attractive and meaningful program of symposia that we hope will appeal to the wide range of interests among Branch members. The Local Arrangements Committee has been working with the Hyatt Regency and the Greater Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau to make your stay in the city enjoyable and memorable. Columbus is easily reachable by highway or air. We are an easy day's drive for about half the Branch membership, and our airport almost never closes. At the end of March the weather may often be springlike (although sometimes it's not).

NOTE: When you register for the meeting, your computer may display a screen warning about "security certification." Ignore that and proceed with registration; it's an internal code issue that is in the process of being fixed.

There is another conference coming into the Hyatt right on the heels of our departure, and if you plan to stay in Columbus the Hyatt Regency might not have guest rooms available for Thursday night 27 March. If you are having a problem finding alternative accommodation for Thursday 27 March, contact Dave Horn (horn.1@osu.edu) for suggestions.

Also: Special Acarology Workshop: Before the formal program begins, Hans Klompen of OSU's Acarology Lab will lead a special 4-hour workshop on mite identification from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. on March 24. There is no charge for this workshop, but participation will be limited to the first 20 registrants. For more information and to register, contact Celeste Welty at welty.1@osu.edu.
